Celia Clinton Elementary is the recipient of a $1,000 grant from the Foundation for Tulsa Schools, and the money is earmarked for one special purpose: teacher appreciation.
“During the past two years, [I met] one on one with principals to ask about school-based needs a partner might be able to help meet, [and] teacher appreciation was mentioned across the board,” said Hallie Green, Manager of Community Engagement and Grants for the Foundation. “In light of that, Partners in Education, through the financial support of our sponsors, decided to award five $1,000 teacher appreciation grants to be used entirely at the principal’s discretion.”
Principal Brandy Wall submitted her entry for the school in the fall.
"Our staff has been working hard to become trauma sensitive so that our students can become resilient. I want to create a soothing space for teachers to unwind and take a breath," Brandy said.
Hallie said the Foundation wants to help ensure their teachers feel appreciated and supported.
“We believe it is vital for teachers to understand the community sees and is grateful for the work they do,” she said.
